Family Gras

Mardi Gras is a time where the city can really let loose and party.  Well that is how Erin sees it.  "I really love Mardi Gras.  It's like one big party!" she said.   Yep, she's right.

Erin, Becca and I decided that this weekend we were going to get our families together and do some Mardi Grasing.  We were planning on some parades on Saturday and some on Sunday, but since it rain all day Saturday and the parades were canceled, we pushed all of our plans onto Sunday. When we were discussing our plans, I casually asked how the kids were going to fit into all this.

After all we were talking about parading all.day.long!  :) Becca and Erin's response were "We are going to push them to their limit...maybe over their limit.  We want to Mardi Gras!!"  Sounded good to me!  I loved their Mardi Gras spirit!

Becca had church on Sunday morning she couldn't get out of, so Erin and I along with our families went to see  our friends, Michelle and Eric for their party they were having for the parade Thoth!  It has been years since I seen Thoth, so I was pretty excited.  We really enjoyed this wonderful parade in the wonderful weather.  Hard to believe that yesterday it was rainy and cold.  Today it was sunny and mild which made the parade even more wonderful.  After the parade, we packed up and headed back to Eric and Michelle's house to have a bite to eat, hang out and wait for Becca and her family to arrive.   Peyton and Zoe eagerly waited for Logan.  They kept asking where was Logan.   Sweet little Zoe even got upset when Thoth ended because she thought Logan missed the parade.  How sweet is that child?

Eventually Becca, Michael and the kids arrived and we packed up again and walked, I believe, 11 blocks to head to Mike and Michelle's for their Bacchus parade party. THIS parade Becca was anxious to see because Will Farrell was in it!  That was pretty exciting to see him in person again.  (The last time I saw him in person was at the Hornet's game.)

Everyone had such a blast!  Especially Erin and Ian with this being their first REAL Mardi Gras experience.  The kids was so worn out, but they really did hang in there with going all day long or almost all day.  They  caught some pretty neat stuff from the floats too.  They ran and played and laughed the whole time.  I love seeing them have so much fun!!!!

After the parade was over with, we packed up to leave.....very full, exhausted and well, just ready for a shower. After everything was packed, suddenly poor baby Brenna got a tummy ache from eating some very rich King Cake.  And poor Becca had baby puke all over her....... and we are not talking about just a little.  But at least Brenna got sick at the very end of our day.  We could tell she was ready to be home when that all started.  And thank God we had Michelle's bathroom to clean them up in!  I do not know what we would have done.  :)   So after cleaning and changing  Brenna (and Becca) we started heading towards our car and little Brenna got sick again....all over Becca.  Poor girls!  It  was a rough ending but we made it through okay even after some poking and teasing.  Thankfully we all are the type of people who can find humor in this type of situation, even if it was messy and smelly!   I had such a good time with my family and my friends.  I am so looking forward to next year!!
