(DRAFT) Snuggles

(wording)

Tummy Time

We are starting a little tummy time.  Emma is a little more patient with it than Peyton ever was at this age.  Peyton hated it with a passion.  We started off with three minutes and she did rather well.  We will build up the time as we practice.  Afterwards we took a Mommy and Emma picture.  The picture didn't come out all that great, but I still love it!

After the Party

After Maddie's party, we all headed to Dawn and Brian's house so Maddie can open her presents.  I had a very hard time getting Peyton to understand that he should let Maddie open her own gifts.  He was trying to "help" her but his help was actually opening her presents.  Ha!  My sweet boy was just anxious to see Maddie's loot!

Maddie's 3rd Old MacDonald Had a Farm Birthday Party

Today we celebrated Maddie's 3rd birthday.  She had it at a dairy farm out in Slaughter, Louisiana.  (The city name is very comical considering we were going to farm)  :) There were buggy rides from a mule named Lucy which Peyton l.o.v.e.d because he rode like 10 times.  He  even went up to Old MacDonald to ask if he could ride again when it became close to the end of the party.  So funny my boy!  There were peacocks to look at and admire (it is peacock mating season)  and chickens to chase and animals to pet.  Peyton's favorite was the farm dog who loved to play fetch and begged Peyton to play with him.  Such a sweet doggie!  After the party was over with, the adults walked over to the farm's little store and bought fresh milk, fresh churned butter and cream!  They even let the kids look at the machine that processed the milk.  It was an exciting day and a beautiful day to celebrate Maddie's birthday.

Snuggle Time

Daddy went out with the guys tonight so Peyton and Mommy did a little snuggle time watching Toy Story 2. As we watched the movie, our sweet puppy had a lookout for Daddy to come home.  Love these moments!!

Follow Up Visit

My girl is feeling a lot better.  Her cough has lessen since starting the Saline treatments.  Last night I got the most rest than I have had in the last 4 nights.  Emma looked better too this morning and the doctor had to agree when we saw her today.  Dr. Li did say that she heard a little wheezing in Emma's lungs, so she started her on Levalbuterol  to ensure this virus does not get into her lungs.

Dr. Li did say that because Emma got this virus so early in life, she is susceptible to easily catching colds and most probably will need breathing treatments in some if not all cases.   I was startled when she told me this and talk about already feeling guilty that I did not do everything possible to keep this from happening to her.   So I guess the breathing machine is ours to keep and probably will come in handy for years to come.  I hope she proves us wrong with this, but only time will tell.

When I went to get the prescription filled, I saw there was a baby vapor bath that helps sooth colds.  Awesome!  My girl l.o.v.e.s her bathes and falls into a nice slumber afterwards.   She was all smiles this evening while she was splashing around with her arms and legs.  It is good to see smiles again after days of nothing but crying.

Peyton on the other hand still has his cough, but getting better as well.  He has lots of energy.  No cold can bring this little guy down!  I am glad to see that my babies are on the mend.  Now if I can only keep myself from getting this cold, things will be great.

Oh Boy, This Girl Has RSV

Sick girl at doctor's office.   :(
Last Thursday, our girl developed a cough.  I was kind of worried that she may have caught Peyton's cold.  As much as I had him wash his hands, especially before touching her, it didn't seem to have worked.  It looked like she had her first cold.  She had this light cough all day Friday too, but it didn't seem like anything serious.  BUT early Saturday morning, around 1:00 a.m. when she woke us up for her feeding,  she projectile vomited and started crying.  And the crying didn't stop.  And she kept coughing.  Needless  to say, I was up for the day.  It looked like from her symptoms (including the coughing) that she was suffering with Acid Reflux so I gave her some gas drops which didn't seem to help at all.  All morning Saturday she was not acting her self.  She was whiny, irritable and wouldn't eat much.  I called her Pediatrician's office and asked them what I should do.  The nurse gave me some suggestions and said it did sound like Acid Reflux and made an appointment for Emma early Monday morning.  However, as time went on,  Emma looked like she was starting to feel worse and I wanted to kick myself in the butt for not insisting to have her brought in to the Covington office Saturday morning when I had the chance. And to top that off,  her cough got worse....a LOT worse.  By Sunday she was really coughing bad which had me worried and her reflux got worse.  I had Kevin pick up some Colic Calm and it seem to have helped her a little bit, but I can still tell that she just wasn't wasn't feeling well.    Monday couldn't come fast enough for me.   Monday finally came and when they heard her cough they immediately tested her for RSV.  I was hoping that wasn't the case but heard  the conversation outside of the door between the nurse and the doctor that they had two cases of RSV in the office and Emma was one of them.  My poor girl!!  I felt so bad for her.  How could I let this happen and I asked the doctor the same question?  The doctor discussed the game plan for treatments and explained to me that I could have disinfected the house till I was blue in the face, all it took was for Peyton to cough or sneeze near Emma and she was infected.  Really? The only way to completely protect her was to keep Peyton totally away from her which is impossible when we all live in the same house.  My poor baby.  The only good news was that her lungs sounds clear.

She had her first breathing treatment in the office which she handled well.  They gave me a machine, a prescription for Saline, a prescription for Zantac to help her out with her reflux and sent us on our way.  When we got home, she wanted nothing but for Mommy to hold her and snuggle.  And guess what I did?  I held and snuggled with her ALL DAY LONG.  I would do anything to help my little Ladybug to feel better.  We have an appointment on Wednesday to make sure that the virus is still not in her lungs.  I pray not.

Three Cute Boys

With Peyton being out of school the whole week, he is literally bouncing off of the walls.  He needs an outlet of his energy so I called to see if his friends Konnor and Landon could come to the park across the street to play for a little while.  Plus Peyton wanted to give his little friends their Valentine treats.

It was so cute that when the boys showed up that they all were wearing the same color shirt.  They got a big kick out of that.  And Peyton was so curious to hear that Konnor lost a tooth.  He kept asking questions like why we lose our teeth and what happens when we lose a tooth.  I went over everything with him but totally forgot that he is now at the age that this starts happening.  I asked him if a tooth was bothering him and he said no, but we shall see if he has any looseys when he goes to the dentist with me in a couple of weeks.  Won't that be exciting if he did??

Valentine Day Pictures

Valentine's Day

Every year for Valentine's Day, Kevin and I stay home to enjoy Oyster Brie Soup.  Over the years we have really became tired of the hours we had to spend in a restaurant due to the crowd.  I prefer to stay home and be with my whole family.

The day started off with Grammy coming over with some Valentine candy, cards, hugs and kisses.  Then Peyton had some sweet friends, Lily and Ella, come over to exchange some Valentine gifts.

We ended the day with a great dinner, wine, chocolates and chocolate covered strawberries that I made.  So yummy!!!  It was a lovely evening!!
