Last Game??

This morning was very busy for me.  I packed everyone up (including the dog), dropped the puppy off for grooming, went to pick up Peyton's good health letter and a copy of his immunizations from his pediatrician for school, had Peyton's hair cut, went big grocery shopping, and finished just in time to pick up the puppy.  Whew!!  Did all this in two hours!    Soooooo..................

Rumors were that the Army Corps of Engineers told Bruce at Coconut Beach that this was probably  the last season for volleyball.  They want the land.  Which is really a sad thing BUT, there is also talk about Bruce rebuilding volleyball courts in Kenner by the lake somewhere from the casino.   I am happy that there is a possibility of this happening but so sad that Coconut Beach (or whatever the name will be) will not be close to us any longer.  But if they do rebuild, it will be as good or even better than the old Coconut Beach.  Which would be so great!  I reminisce about the old Coconut Beach all the time.  The way they have it set up now doesn't come close.   So anyway, since no one really knows about what is going to happen with future plans about rebuilding like when, exactly where and how long, there will probably be indoor volleyball until then OR FOREVER if the plans with the new courts fail.  Which kind of suck because I really get bored with indoor volleyball.  Too stuck inside and well, Peyton just wouldn't enjoy it.  There would be no sand and no kids to play with so what's the point for us going??  I really hope they rebuild courts somewhere because I am really looking forward to watching Peyton play out there one day.

So since there was a possibility of no more Coconut Beach for now, Kevin asked if Peyton and I wanted to come out since it was an early game.  I really wanted to go but as I was looking out the window, I could see the black clouds coming our way.  So I said "well, yes if it is not raining".  Kevin reassured me that it was just 20% chance of rain and it should be gone by the time the game started.  Well, let me say that the 20% must have settled over New Orleans because it kept raining.  But I took a chance anyway because I wanted to go watch Kevin play and I was in a mood for their chicken sandwich AND I wanted Peyton to have a chance to play in the sand one more time.   Yep, it was a chance because really Peyton didn't nap today and I knew I was in for it if it was miserable.   And miserable it was....at first.  It rained and there were lightening which delayed the game some.  Peyton played in the rain and sand for a little while but then the "I want to go home" and "I'm tired" lines started to come.  So what's a mom to do in that situation other than load him up on french fries and candy!   :)  Which worked because he watched the rest of the game and started playing with another little boy (Connor). By this time the rain had stopped and the evening out there got really enjoyable having a couple of drinks and hanging out with the winning team.   And to top the evening off, Bruce made an announcement that the Army Corp of Engineers advised Coconut Beach that they will let us have the land for the fall season.  Everyone cheered to hear the good news.  So...I guess this wasn't our last evening there after all!!  :)
