We officially have a membership with the Zoo and Aquarium of America!! Today Peyton and I met Mimi and Pawpaw at the zoo on this beautiful day. However, since it is Spring Break, the zoo was packed!! More so than on the weekends. But we still had a great time! As we were going through a gift shop I spotted a fish water gun. I knew Peyton would fall in love with the thing. And he did! We laughed and laughed at Peyton acting silly trying to squirt everyone passing. But he mostly got us really good with the thing. The little things that make kids happy! We really didn't get to see too many animals this trip due to Peyton playing in sand, water, riding the Carousel with Pawpaw, eating ice cream and running around all over the place. But, I guess that is the beauty of have a membership, you can go back any time you want.

Barrows of Fun
What a better way to enjoy your birthday gift....making your child laugh with it. Kevin was pushing Peyton across the yard real fast in the wheelbarrow and he was getting a big kick out of the thing. And the dog, well he wasn't forced to ride along. Zack cannot stand not being apart of the action. ;)

Creole Baby
Well our weekend was not finished with festivals. Today Kevin and I decided to travel to Chalmette for the Crawfish Festival. So....this was official our first crawfish of the year!! And....Peyton even ate a crawfish or two for the first time! He is now our Creole Baby. :) I think he perfered the corn but at least he gave it a try. After eating we went on a couple of rides and then headed over to a cool looking playground next to the festival. We just can't get enough of this beautiful weather!! We sure did have a lot of fun with our little guy this weekend.

"Happy Cake" for Daddy
So after a wonderful day outside at the festival, later that evening we headed over to Kevin's Mom and Dad's house for some soft shell crab po-boys and birthday cake. Peyton was so excited to sing Happy Birthday to Daddy. Of course Peyton had to help with blowing out the candle. That's a must!! After he helped Daddy blow out the candle he clapped his hands and kept saying "Happy Cake" over and over again. So funny!! Kevin got some really nice clothes, a new cell phone, Auburn stuff and a new wheel barrow. Happy Birthday Kevin!!
New Orleans Road Food Festival
Today is Kevin's's birthday and he wanted to start his birthday off with the family going to the New Orleans Road Food Festival on Royal Street. Since it was a beautiful day (and parking relatively close to the festival was probably close to impossible), Kevin and I decided to take a street car down to the City. This was Kevin's as well as Peyton's first time!! The street car was a little too busy for my taste and some people were really smelly, but Peyton enjoyed the ride (after he felt comfortable). Peyton is not the type to jump into anything new head first! :)
We met Kevin's mom and dad on Royal and enjoyed the beautiful weather eating some great food, checking out the sights and enjoyed some good ol' New Orleans music from the street musicians. You really have to love this City!!!

2010 Easter Egg Hunt
Today was our Third Annual Eggs-tra Special Easter Playdate at Lafrenierre. We had a BLAST!! I had a blast. Last year Peyton could care less about Easter eggs! This year...well let's just say that I had to keep throwing some eggs back as Peyton was picking them up because we had way too many. We had the kids line up on the sidewalk until the count of 3 and then let them run to find the eggs. It was so funny seeing the kids so excited and very impatient to get started. Peyton being one of them!! I think I had to call him back like three times.
One of the moms brought a live bunny for pictures. Peyton was thrilled to see the bunny! After bunny pictures we ate lunch, ate chocolate, rode the carousel, decorated Easter cookies, played with sidewalk chark, blew bubbles, played on the playground and fed the ducks. We had a very full day!!

Dandelions
Last week when Peyton and I went for one of our little walks, I saw some Dandelions and showed Peyton what happened when I blew on it. His eyes lite up! So now we not only look for trucks and tractors but hunt for Dandelions and of course pick some flowers for Mommy.

Too Funny to Forget
Peyton has this new thing now when he wants our attention:
"Mommy (or Daddy), heeeelp, heeelp, help............."
I wonder what show he got that from?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peyton and I were naming trucks from his favorite truck book when we came upon the delivery truck
"What's this?" I ask
"Water truck" Peyton replied as he pointed to the water jugs pictured on the truck.
I said, "No Peyton that's a Delivery Truck...but they deliver water huh?
Peyton shakes his head "No, that water truck"
"No, that's not a water truck...that's a delivery truck."
"Delivery truck" Peyton repeated then after thinking about it he said "no, that water truck"
"That's a water truck? I really do think that is a delivery truck" I insisted as I point to the picture again.
"No, that water truck" Peyton insisted back.
Okay, I gave up. I think Peyton and I had our first 'verbal' disagreement and I seem to have lost this one!!! :)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Peyton and I went to the mall to do some birthday shopping for Daddy. We stopped in the food court to get a bite to eat and as I was leaving the counter, my drink fell off of the tray and splashed all over the register counter and onto the floor. Embarassed, I started to clean up as I called the food court cleaning lady over. When she walked up Peyton looked over at her and said really loud.
"Mommy made a mess!"
Thanks for the confirmation kiddo!!

Irish-Italian Parade
It was such a beautiful day today that we went to watch the Irish-Italian Parade. Peyton couldn't wait to start catching beads and toys. He didn't want us to put him down for one minute. It was either me or Kevin that had to be up front and center with him so that he could watch the trucks and floats go by. Before long Peyton had way too many stuffed animals and toys. I started to give some of them away to different kids around us while Peyton wasn't watching. And we still had a wagon full of stuff! It was a great time!! :)

Zoo with Friends
Today Peyton and I met Amy, Andrea, Amanda and a few other moms and their kids to hang out on this beautiful day at the zoo. Peyton had a blast of course and Kevin and I are now considering getting a membership there. I would love to be able to go any time Peyton and I wanted. The only thing is that next time I am bringing my lunch. The zoo's food is so expensive and the taste is just okay. But I can't wait to go again. I hear that the zoo is adding a bunch of exciting stuff...like a swim park. We have to get a membership now! :)
