Hospital Stay Day 1

Yesterday I had a doctor's appointment to have blood drawn to check for Cholestasis.  The first thing that was alarming was that my blood pressure was elevated.  This has been getting worse.  My blood pressure would be okay one visit and not with another.  It has never been super high, but high enough for concern.  I have been itchy, but that has not been bad either.  I also have been dealing with some swelling in my legs and feet.   All of these thing are not making me look good here!!  I had Cholestasis with Peyton, but only dealt with severe itching.  My blood pressure was fine and I definitely did not have any swelling.    Well..... my doctor called me today and told me she wanted me in the hospital.  My blood work came back and my enzymes was also elevated.  She was concerned about Preeclamsia.  And she didn't want to take any chances.  I was suppose to start the 24 hr  home urine test for Preeclamsia today, but my doctor told me she wanted the hospital to do it as I was being monitored.

Of course when I got the call, I was babysitting Logan and Brenna to give Becca a chance to get over her bad cold, but had to call her to come get the kids.  I felt really bad for that because she JUST dropped them off, but she understood.

First thing they did after checking in the hospital was hook me up to the fetal monitor and start the urine test (24 hour test) for Preeclamsia.  Good news is that there is no protein in my urine.  But the bad news is that my doctor is telling me to be prepared to spend a couple of nights in the hospital.

And the funniest part!!!  Mom is getting her hysterectomy today, so she is in the hospital too.  So not only can she not visit me, but I can not visit her.  And she will be recovering from her surgery, so I won't be seeing her for a while.   Talk about bad timing!!

So after hanging out in the hospital for a while I sent Kevin home to get Peyton in bed for school tomorrow.  Kevin was going back and forth about staying with me at the hospital, but I talked him out of it.  What good would it do anyway?  The best thing was to get Peyton home to continue on with his routine.  Hopefully things will look better tomorrow.

Acting silly in the hospital before going home for the night.
