A day that COULD have turned bad!

Today we decided to go on a family bike ride. On our way to the lake, we stopped by Lakeview Harbor, picked up some hamburgers and margaritas and found a shady spot near the levee to eat and let Peyton run up and down on. I love these kind of days just hanging out with my family. :) A wonderful time...until.....my camera decided to break! OMG! I got bummed out immediately because Kevin talked me to holding off for my Nikon camera until next year, so, which meant, the only camera I had was my point and shoot. I was depressed! How am I going to survive without my camera? I went from being in a great mood to a horrible one. Until...Kevin told me that he would agree to get the Nikon D60 or D80 camera in a couple of weeks since I now don't have one!!!!!! I am so happy and relieved. I would have been lost with just a point and shoot camera.
Anyway, I love the picture of Kevin and Peyton coming down the levee. I so enjoy taking the father and son pictures. The hamburger picture was just to show you how damn good these burgers are!

Children's Hospital Volleyball Tournament

Today Kevin played in the Children's Hospital Volleyball Tournament. I always enjoy this tournament especially since it is for such a great cause! So Peyton and I went out to watch daddy play. This year, they were handing out popsicles and Peyton enjoyed the heck out of it. Messy.....but I guess it was worth it.....picture worthy anyway! And the food was pretty decent. Usually it is nothing really to write home about, but I have to say this year was very impressive.
Maybe, hopefully...... I will play again. After my knee surgery that is.

Day full of Swimming and Bunnies

Today we were suppose go to Lafrieniere Park, but since the weather has been so hot lately, we accept our friend, Kendra's invitation to go to her parent's house to swim. We had a great time considering that Peyton had not been in an inground pool since he was about 5 months old. I knew this was going to be almost a new experience for him. He did very well I have to say. Doesn't mind water in his face too much. Kevin and I are thinking of swimming lessons for him next summer. This summer we just want to expose him to the pool as much as possible. So, thanks Kendra for a great time today!

Later after we returned home, our neighbor brought over his pet bunny. It was a rescued bunny from Katrina that he decided to keep as a pet since the bunny is so sweet. Peyton loved him. And surprisingly was very gentle with the bunny.

Playdate at Kendra & Isabelle's

Today we went to Isabelle's house to play with her cool toys. Anything with wheels, of course, Peyton ran to. Being that Isabelle's a girl, she only had one truck which the little boys fought over. Around the end of the playdate, poor Peyton was very upset when I told him not to take that one truck away from another playmate, Colin. Man, was Peyton upset! A temper tandrum with lots tears and loud crying! At that point I knew it was time to take my boy home for a nap! :)

A Visit with Best Friend Stephanie

After Hurricane Katrina, one of my best friends, Stephanie and her family moved to Tennessee. I was bummed for a very long time that she had to move. Still am really.... I miss her terribly! Thank God for Facebook. What a way to keep in touch!!! Anyway, she sent me a message saying that she was coming down to Mississippi to visit family and want us to visit. Since I haven't seen my great friend since my wedding back in 2007, I jump to the opportunity to see her again. Plus she did not met Peyton and I have not yet met her baby boy, David who are two months apart!!! It was a great visit. I was bummed to leave because I don't know when I will see her again. Hopefully soon.

Joshua's First Birthday

Today the family was invited to one of Peyton's little buddy's first birthday party at Storyland. The party was very cute. Joshua, the birthday boy, was very cute. He didn't like the "gook" (birthday cake) on his hands and was asking Mommy to wipe it off then proceeded to throw his birthday cake on the floor. So funny. :) Peyton was totally different! We had to actually take his cake away from him before he ate it all! After the party, we got to tour Storyland again with Daddy this time!

OPA----Greek Festival

We met up with Kevin's Mom & Dad at the Greek Festival. I have to say that the one thing I absolutely love about New Orleans is all the festivities. Love, love them all! (okay except for one or two). I don't know what I would do if we ever had to move. I can imagine that I would be bored to death!

The food is absolutely delicious! We bought a bottle of Greek wine out there called Vasilikon Agios Onoufrios Red. Really good wine if you are ever interested in tring something "Greek".

My pictures was shot by my point and shot, so they are not the best. I didn't want to carry my big camera out there in the beginning but then wished I did! :)

Naked Bird

Anyone that knows my home would understand why I keep diapers everywhere. I have three floors........and it took me exactly a month after Peyton's birth of going up and down the stairs 50 times a day for me to start stashing diapers everywhere! But today, I was out of diapers on the second floor and realized it right in the middle of a messy diaper change. So I cleaned Peyton up and sat him on the floor and ran upstairs as fast as I could to grab more diapers. Just to prove how fricking fast kids are, by the time I returned back to where I left him, which took me.....ahhh maybe 20 seconds.....Peyton made his way to the first floor, pulled my diaper bag off of the table, dumped everything, opened a pack of gram crackers and was sitting pretty on my couch (naked!!!) with a gram cracker in each hand. Then gave me that "why are you fussing" look! Boy, I think I need to speed up my game here!

♫ This is the way we brush our teeth ♪

With the help of some really great tasting bubble gum toddler toothpaste and a catchy song, he finally enjoys this little routine. For a while, it was a constant fight! The only thing is that now, of course, he wants to do it himself. I may get a couple of brushes in there, but after that I have to hand over the toothbrush! :)

A Boo visit to the Zoo

We had a family zoo trip planned for today for weeks. This day everything worked out that Kevin didn't have to work, my sister didn't have plans and my Mom & Dad was free to go to the zoo. AND today had to be one of the worse times to go! It rain, and rain, and rained some more! It was raining so hard we only saw half the zoo and I only got a few pictures. I was afraid to take my camera out too much in the wet. So much for wishful thinking and listening to the weather guy! :) But I did get a few cute pictures. Oh, well...I guess we will have to try again because Peyton did love the animals we had a chance to see between down pours!

Lounging Around

Tonight we went to Coconut Beach to watch Kevin's 6:30 game. Coconut Beach was setting up for the weekend tournament and had all kinds of cool stuff out there. Peyton's favorite was the hammock. He could have fallen asleep on it if we had let him. We left past his bedtime again. (We have been doing that alot lately) But there were no complaints from Peyton. As long as we are outside, he is so happy no matter what time it is!

Visiting Mother Goose at Storyland

Today we met with the Mommy group and went to Storyland. It was unbelieveably hot, but we enjoyed ourselves. The last time we were here Peyton was 10 months old. A little to young to appreciate all the fun things you can do! Today Peyton was all over the place going in and out the the character's playhouses and climbing up on everything! If it was cooler we might have stayed a little longer! We definitely will have to come back here.

Mothers' Day

Mother's Day was great! We had boiled crawfish for dinner and Kevin's Mom and I were showered with flowers, balloons, cards, wonderful gifts and sweet kisses from my baby boy! I love Mother's Day.

Dearest Peyton,

One day you will be writing me a letter on Mother's Day, so until then, I will be the one. Sweet boy, the last 16 months has been the most wonderful months of my life. I can't even remember what life was like before you and I can't imagine how life would be without you. You are such a blessing from God himself and I can not thank him enough each day in my prayers. I look forward to Mother's Day not for the flowers and gifts, but as a special day to reflect how very lucky I am to be your Mommy and how wonderful it is to have you as a son. Even though it seems that I do that everyday!! I love you so much!

Love Mommy

Penis Envy

The night before last, Kevin was laughing. When I asked what was so funny, he told me he just read a discussion in my new book I got for my birthday, What to Expect in The Toddler Years. And what did my husband find so funny? Penis envy. Yeap! Undoubtly some toddlers who happen to see daddy's "goodies" get upset that his "goodies" are not as big. And I thought the penis comparing stage started in adolescence! I guess I was wrong about that. So I had to read up on it in my new book, and it is pretty funny. Boys and men! I swear. So obsessed with their penis even at the age of 18 months. :)

Last night Kevin brought Peyton in the bathroom after dinner for his bath. After cleaning I walked in the bathroom to find this....................................

I think that Kevin was testing out the penis envy theory!! :) Just kidding....HA!

Roman's Birthday Playdate

Today Peyton went to a little friend's (Roman) 2nd birthday playdate at Bonnabel Playground. I think that having a little party at a playground is a fabulous idea!!! Especially this playground because it is fenced in. I may have to consider that for Peyton's 2nd birthday. The kids can do the birthday thing then run and play off all the sugar they just consumed! HA! But overall we had a wonderful time and so far Peyton is taking a three hour nap!! :)
