Our Little Froggy

When it was time for Peyton to be born, the doctor had a heck of a time reaching him through my incision. He was positioned with each leg up like a little frog. They had to check his hips after delivery to make sure that everything was in working order....and of course everything turned out fine. The doctor told me that he just liked that position. Well it seems like he still does. So, for now Daddy and I are calling Peyton our Little Froggy! :)

Touch of Jaundice

When we left the hospital, the peditrician advised us that Peyton has a small tough of Jaundice. She told us that to help with this, put him in sunlight for about 5 to 10 minutes a day. So this is what we are doing. Breastfeeding is such a challenge. He didn't want to breastfeed in the hospital and he is not interested now, so we have been giving him formula with some breastmilk. The only thing that makes him happy when it comes to feedings is the bottle. Oh, well I tried. :) I am hoping that this will also help with the Jaundice. I really don't think he was getting enough milk with just breastfeeding.

Taking Peyton Home from Lakeside Hospital

Today we took Peyton home for the hospital. I had Kevin go get the car seat and it turned out that the only way they let us out of the hospital is by me being wheelchaired out with Peyton in my arms. I didn't care. I was ready to be home. It was such a pain in the ass to be woken up every three hours for checking of vitals. But the whole c-section experience was not too bad at all. A little weird, but not bad.

Peyton's early arrival

Connie is a little busy with her recovery and new mommyhood status, so I'm doing the journal entry today.Peyton was born on Tuesday January 8th at 4:07pm. He weighed 6lbs 11 oz and was 19.25" in length.The day started off very nervewracking. We get a call from the doctor's office saying, "We received your latest blood test results and need to see you right away." That is never a good thing to hear from your doctor. Once we get to the doctor's office, she confirms what Connie had been saying all along. The reason for her terrible itchiness over the last month is that Connie has a rare liver condition(cholostasis(sp?)) seen in only 0.6% of the cases. It causes no harm to Connie but provides widely unpredictable results for the baby. The worst condition seen 3% of the time is infant death with little to no warning. This condition is not well understood and there is no official form of treatment. Well, since Connie was on her 37th week of pregnancy, the doctor suggested we do the C-section that day. Worst case is that we get the baby out and he may be in the hospital for a week since his lungs may or may not be developed. So, at 4:07pm Peyton Connor Davis was born. View the pictures in the album. At the moment, everything is looking great. He is not under any special monitoring. The hospital is treating him like any other baby. Connie has started breastfeeding right away and so far mother and son are doing wonderfully. 36 Weeks Doctor's Visit

Peyton decided not to flip head down. His head is resting right underneath my ribs on my right side. My doctor does not think that at this point he will flip, so.... looks like I will be having a c-section. She did suggest to me about seeing my specialist to see if she could flip the baby, but the success rate will be low since this is my first pregnancy. And there are risks of putting the baby in distress which would mean an emergency c-section. Kevin and I decided to schedule the c-section and wait it out to see what Peyton does between now and the chosen c-section date. My doctor said that it may be the week of January 20th for the c-section, so we will let everyone know once it is confirmed with the hospital.
