Peyton and Maddie Pictures

Pictures from Dawn, Brian and Maddie's visit.  I didn't have a chance to take pictures since I was sick during their visit, so I stole these from Grammy!

Boring Weekend

This weekend we wanted to take a little trip to the Biloxi for some beach time since we had none so far this summer.  So we were really disappointed to find out that we were going to have bad weather all weekend.  It has been raining non-stop since Saturday morning!  I am glad that Peyton spent Friday and Saturday at his grandparents house.  He would be bouncing off the walls with cabin fever!  :)  Finding things for Peyton to do all day long without getting bored is a challenge.  I guess I need to buy more rainy day stuff.

Morning Fun

Today Peyton and I went to the Children's Museum.  I love going here now that Peyton is older and he enjoys it so much.  There is so much to do....... and next time I will have to remember to bring more change for the parking meter so that we can stay longer!  Peyton's favorite part (and mine too) was the Winn Dixie shopping center.  Peyton had the best time pushing his cart around and 'shopping' for his groceries.  He takes his shopping seriously and was really excited when he found crabs and lobsters!  That's my boy!!  He made sure he had enough for Mommy, Daddy and Peyton so we can go home and cook them.  :)  We had a great time this morning and we look forward to going back.....maybe next time with Daddy.

Potty Training Fun

Today I got really serious with Peyton about potty training.  I have to admit....this is a very hard job.  I think I will dream tonight of me saying for the millionith time "do you have to potty?"   AND this is just day one! Peyton is not an easy subject.  He had no interest in the potty since day one despite the fun undies, candy and car stickers I bought for bribery!!  And as many times that I have asked if he had to potty, he has asked for me to put a diaper on him.  I got him use to the idea of having the undies, now it is for him to wear them.  In the beginning he wanted to wear them but when he figured out what was required from him to use the potty, he quickly lost interest.  :)  So today we started off wearing undies from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with me sitting him on the potty every 20 to 30 minutes, then I gave him a break from potty training.  He did pretty good today.  He sat on the potty, didn't go or anything but also did not have an accident.   Starting tomorrow we are going to start adding an half hour a day to our training.  Hopefully I will have him out of diapers in a couple of months.....well at least hopefully before his 3rd birthday.

Satchmo Fest 2010

Peyton's Aunt Dawn, Uncle Brian and Cousin Maddie came down to New Orleans to go to the Satchmo Fest.  I was sick this time so just Kevin and Peyton joined them.  So I packed up everything including my point and shoot camera and sent them on their way.  Kevin said that they had a pretty good time despite the fact that it felt like 100 degrees outside!  Glad I didn't decide to sucker it up.  I would have been miserable.  Peyton came home so proud of his bookmarker that he made at the kid's Arts and Crafts Center.  I can tell because both Peyton and Kevin were covered with glitter when they got home!  :)

A Little Road Trip

Every year we try to plan a camping trip with my parents and sister.  Last year we camped at Little Black Creek in Mississippi.  It was a nice little camping trip.  The lake was absolutely beautiful and I loved that the lake was behind our cabin.  The beach area and playground was nothing to brag about but we had one and I guess that is all that mattered.  So this year Kevin is interested in finding a campground with a pool.   So we read up on Jellystone Campground and it not only had a pool but a water park and other activities for the kiddos to do and you can camp too.  So since it is only an hour or so away, Kevin and I decided to take a little road trip up there to check it out before we commit.   And....I am so glad that we did.  This park is really is not what we had in mind.  Yes they had lots of kid stuff to do but it had no nature whatsoever, people were packed on top of each other, the lake was really a canal and the cabins were not so great.  So we won't be going there.  I guess Kevin may not be getting his pool after all.  If I had to sacrifice nature over a pool, well that sacrifice won't happen.  So we are still searching for the perfect campground.  But the road trip was fun.  Peyton enjoyed it especially when we stopped for pizza and then spent a little time at a playground.
