Playdate at Avery's House

I wasn't feeling good today and almost canceled out on this playdate but decided to go anyway so that Peyton could see his little friends.  And I am glad that I did because Peyton had fun.  He played with his first doll today.  It was so cute watching him feed the baby and put the baby to bed.  I guess Peyton wanted to see what all the fuss was all about with his little girl friends when it comes to dolls!  :)

Circus

Being the mommy that I am, I make sure that every year we make it to the circus.  Last year was a blast and I thought for sure that Peyton would just LOVE it this year.  Well, I was sorta right.  Peyton was interested in most of it but some parts (like the clowns) he started to get antsy.  He would at times say he wanted to go home, but we managed to distract him long enough until something new in the show caught his interest.  On our way home after the show, Kevin said he liked this show better than last year.....but I have to disagree.  Last year there were more motorcycle stunts and little cars than this year which I know Peyton would have loved.  They only showed one motorcycle once in the beginning of the show and that was it.  Peyton asked almost through the whole show were the motorcyle went!  :)    Oh well, it was fun and can't wait for next year!!

Water, Water, Everywhere

Today we went to little Brenna's house for some water play.   The water looked very inviting...especially since it has been so hot lately!  The kids had a ball.  As I was watching them all cram into the kiddie pool, I was thinking how amazing it has been watching all these kids grow up.  I knew all these kiddos since they were about 5 or 6 months old.  It has been great watching them go from babies to little boys and girls over the last two years.
Gabriella, Peyton, Maddie, Bryce and Brenna crammed in the kiddie pool!

Father's Day with Family

Father's Day was very nice.  We had King Crabs legs for dinner and watched the Daddies open their wonderful gifts.  Happy Father's day to Grand Dad and most of all Kevin!!

Kevin's Father's Day Poem to Peyton

A careful man I want to be, a little fellow follows me

I do not dare to go astray, for fear he'll go the self-same way

I cannot once escape his eyes, whate'er he sees me do he tries

Like me, he says he's going to be, the little chap who follows me

He thinks that I am good and fine, believes in every word of mine

The base in me, he must not see, that little fellow who follows me

I must remember as I go, through summer's sun and winter's snow

I am building for the years to be, in the little chap who follows me.

Another Father's Day Playdate

Today we were invited to Chloe and Bryce's house for some play time fun and to decorate a Father's Day t-shirt.  Peyton had a great time especially since he found Bryce's stash of cars!  The t-shirts turned out cute and I can't wait for Peyton to wear it for Daddy!  :)

Handy Man Peyton

It was so cute watching Daddy and Peyton put together the catapult that we got from the Zoobalation a couple of weeks ago.   Peyton just may be quite a little handy man when he gets older.  And he looked so grown up in his glasses.....that was until he stuck his nu-nu in his mouth!  :)

Father's Day Playdate

Father's Day is coming up and what a great way to celebrate it by having the kids do something special for their daddy.  Today we went to a playdate where the kids painted a picture frame.  What a great time!! Peyton loved painting his little frame and gluing the word Daddy on it.  The end result came out so cute but I do not want to show how it came out so that Daddy won't see it before Father's Day!  :)

Emma's Birthday at Children's Museum

Today Peyton and I went to Emma's third birthday party at Children's Museum.  We have not been there since Peyton was 10 months old, so this was quite a treat for us.  Peyton had a fabulous time with all the different things there is to do.  Especially the cars....you know my boy loves the cars.  We are definitely coming back here to play again sometime in the near future.

Playing in the Rain

Today Grammy and Grand Dad invited us over for some boiled crawfish.  It has been an extremely HOT day.  This has been hottest weekend we had so far!  Whew!!  Peyton got to cool down when Grammy put the hose on for Peyton to run through.   Lucky boy!  :)  Then a couple of hours later it started to rain and Peyton was already wet....sooo he played in the rain until it was close to time to go.   I say we had one tired little man when we finally got home.

Family Fun at Bounce Spectrum

Today since Kevin had off of work we visited Bounce Spectrum so that Peyton could have some bouncing fun.  I am so happy Peyton is into this now!  I remember the horrible time he had  when I first brought him to Bounce Spectrum.  Peyton wanted nothing to do with bouncing and he didn't like the noise the air machines were making which made him cry the whole time.  It is amazing how in a matter of months things change.  Peyton had a great time even though the place was practically empty on a Friday afternoon.   Peyton kept asking  "Where the kids go?"  I think he would have had more fun if there were other kids around but he had a good time jumping with his Daddy.

Zoobalation

Today Kevin, Peyton and I met Mimi and Pawpaw to go to the Zoobalation at Audubon Zoo.  This event is for members only and it was quite interesting.  I would have like to have seen more behind the scene events, but we got there kind of late and by the time we made it to a certain animal's feeding time we had to stand way in the back and it was hard to see.  I think next year we will have a better idea of what we would like to see and try to get there as soon as possible.  One of the things especially will be the Kids Arts & Crafts Center.  There were lot of kids running around with a wooden car and Peyton wanted one so bad.  But by the time we got there they were all out!!  Thank goodness Peyton is still at the age that we can easily make him forget about it.  I have a feeling that we won't have this privilege for long.  Oh well, next time we are going to check that area out first.  Mimi said so!  :)

Oyster Festival

Peyton, Kevin and I met up with Angela and some friends to go to the Oyster Festival.  I really like this festival with all the different oyster dishes.  I really enjoyed the oyster shots!  We definitely wanted to go to this festival because it was the first and we don't know if it will be the last for a while due to the oil spill in the Gulf.  :(   I hope this is not the case but like Cowboy Mouth said on stage, Katrina couldn't bring us down and neither will BP.  I hope this festival is back next year.  And...Cowboy Mouth was great!!  Even Peyton enjoyed their performance and clapped and cheered with everyone at the end.

Children's Hospital Volleyball Tournament

Today Kevin played in the Children's Hospital Tournament with the Lockheed Martin team.  His team make it to the playoffs but didn't win anything (he claims for the second year in the row).  :(  However, Peyton had a blast playing in the water hole that all the kiddos were call the "pool".   HA! When we got home Peyton was so ready for a bath and bedtime.  He played just as hard as Daddy today.

Attempting Peyton's First Movie

This morning the Mom's Group met at Elmwood Movie Theater to watch the fourth Shrek.  Movies has always been a playdate, but I never brought Peyton because I knew he wouldn't keep still long enough.  I figured that since my Mom tells me he sits through Church without any problems, he may be ready for a movie playdate.  Wrong!!  Big fat tears came as soon as the previews started and he kept saying over and over again "go home" "see Zack".  I did my best to get him interested in the movie by giving him candy, nachos, and one of the moms even offered him popcorn which all kept him quiet for a total of maybe 20 minutes, then he would point to the exit and start crying again.  *sigh*  I told everyone bye and went to customer service to ask if I could have a refund.  Thank goodness the theater gave it to me with no problems.  Oh well, maybe I need to wait a little while longer.  I don't think Peyton is ready for the dark and the loudness of the movie at this stage of his toddlerhood
