Officially a Stay At Home Mom

Friday was my last day working. It was a bitter/sweet day. The girls at work gave me a "Mommy Care Package" and more baby stuff. If any of the girls at The Young Firm is reading this ---- Thanks for everything and I will most definitely miss each of you. I hope everyone has a wonderful New Years!!!

Peyton's name

After Christmas dinner, I asked Kevin's mom to let me see the Davis' family book. One of Kevin's aunts told us during Thanksgiving that Peyton is a family name on Kevin's side. Sure enough it is! Two of Kevin's great grandfathers had Peyton as a middle name. How neat is that ? Even though we chose the name before we found this out, it is great to know that Peyton's name has history behind it.

Christmas 2007 with Family Before Baby

Last Christmas for Kevin and I as a twosome! The weeks can't pass fast enough until my little man is here!!! It was very hard not to be able to eat the "slippery ones" (raw oysters). Boo. You can't eat anything raw while pregnant. I will have to wait to next year! Every year Kevin's family get raw oysters to shuck to bake for Christmas dinner. I love this tradition!

Packing my Hospital Bag!!

It is hard to believe that I make 35 weeks on Monday. Hopefully, only 4 (or less) more weeks to go. A coworker, Nickie (my secret Santa) gave me two nightshirts, slippers and a nice soft baby receiving blanket to pack in my hospital bag. Thanks to her she got me going with getting this done. Anytime between now and January 30th, Peyton could decide to come, so I need to be ready. It is so hard to believe that he will be here soon!! I have three more days of work left and the countdown really begins. How exciting for Kevin and I.

Yeah, No 3 Hr Testing

My doctor told me that since I am late in my pregnancy, I do not have to take the 3 hr glucose test. I have no symptoms she is worred about, but she does want me to test my blood on a weekly basis for high levels of sugar until the baby is born.

33 weeks doctor's visit

I had my doctor's appointment yesterday. Everything is great. They are now starting to monitor every two weeks for twenty minutes of the baby's heartbeat just to make sure that he is not under any type of stress. As of now, Peyton is on track with his weight and doing good. Unfortunately I failed my one hour glucose test. Now I have to go back to take the three hour test. Not looking forward to this at all and wondering when I am going to have time to even do this with the holidays coming up. My doctor says she thinks I will pass the three hour test, so I am really not worried.

8th Month 4d Pictures

Peyton is something else! :) He gave us a couple of profile pictures but they are not the best. He had both feet in his face with his tippy toes touching his forehead. He slept through the whole appointment. But what I did see of him, he is adorable. He is breech though. I am hoping that he flips.

Baby Shower

The baby shower was wonderful!!! Peyton got a lot of stuff and many cute outfits. We had about 50 people cramedf into our house. But it was lovely. Angie put the shower together and did a great job. Mom bought me my cute Mickey Mouse cake. Now, just to find a place to put everything. LOL

Good news! My specialist say that everything looks good with Peyton. Peyton is 2 pounds and 4 ounces. So, she said that there is no reason to see her again.

27 Week 4d Ultrasound

Unfortunately the pictures did not come out as good as we hoped. This time Peyton had his legs in front of his face. Last time was his hands. He is very picture shy! We got some profile pictures and I will sort through them and post the best ones. We saw him yawn alot, but when it came down to taking that ultrasound picture, he refused to move those legs no matter how much he was poked. He was comfortable in that position and that was final. So, we are looking forward to our third visit.

Beginning the Disney Room

We (well Kevin) began painting Peyton's room today. I cleaned the room and then we went to Home Depot and picked out Disney colors. I think we decided on the baby furniture we want. We are trying to see if we can order it through the internet than the store. So far no luck with the internet.

The Search for Baby Furniture Begins

This weekend will be very busy. Kevin and I are planning to furniture shop this weekend for Peyton. We are interested in the baby crib that converts to a toddler's bed then can be used for a full size bed. I can't wait to get my disney stuff organized in the room. This weekend should be nice and cool, so I want to open all of the windows in Peyton's room and air it out while I clean it from top to bottom.

Stay At Home Mom

I told my work that I will not be returning after the baby is born. I plan to work to the end of the year. Kevin and I decided that I am going to take the last 4 weeks of my pregnancy to relax and finish getting things ready for the arrival of Peyton.

22 Weeks - Prenatal Visit Update

Peyton is doing great and growing normally. Heartbeat is strong. After advising my doctor that it feels like to me that Peyton is doing jumping jacks on my bladder, she did a physical exam and confirmed that he is still down really, really low.... which made me become great friends with the toilet. But as long as he is healthy and striving, I can handle the constant bathroom trips.

Where is the Time Going?

It is hard to believe that I am half way through my pregnancy. It seems like yesterday when I saw the positive sign on the pregnancy test. I won't be long before my little Peyton Connor is in my arms!!!!Monday I make 23 weeks and my first 4D ultrasound is Saturday. I am very excited to see the baby up close for the first time. I have my fingers crossed that the baby will allow us to get good pictures. If not, well I do have my second ultrasound to look forward to. I am waiting for a nice cool day (hopefully this weekend) so that I can go upstairs and open the windows and start cleaning out completely Peyton's room. Then, I will have to sweet talk Daddy into painting. :) I have a doctors appointment today so I will have an updated report shortly.

First Real Kick (or Punch)

Monday I made 21 weeks. Last night I felt Peyton's first real kick (or punch). It kind of startled me a little. He did it once since then, but I mostly feel him just moving around.

Cute Baby Clothes

We are already getting clothes from the grandparents. Check out the pictures of the cute clothes we got so far including a cute little Saints outfit. By next football season Peyton should be able to wear it. Peyton has been moving so much lately. I feel him practically every day now. I am now starting to recognize his rest and active periods. This morning around 6:30 he was very active. I have not posted belly pictures yet. So that is coming soon. I finally had to break down and buy maternity clothes since I couldn't fit in my regular clothes anymore. Now I am hooked. I want more maternity clothes. The girl at the check out counter told me that the bigger your stomach gets the cuter the clothes are. So, I am going back for more. My next doctors appointment is September 27th.

19 Weeks - Prenatal Visit Update

Peyton is doing great. He is getting bigger by the day. And I feel him more and more.

I complained to the doctor that I have been having a lot of pressure in my bladder which causes constant bathroom breaks and menstral-like discomfort at times. I know this happens later in a pregnancy, but didn't think I would feel the pressure this soon. The doctor checked to see if I had an infection which turns out that I didn't. After the ultrasound, she told me that the baby is really down low and just likes being low in my belly at this time. That is where he comfortable. She said that eventually he will move up.

Peyton's Movements

I started feeling the baby move around the beginning of last week. Not so much when I stand, but when I sit down or lay down. I feel Peyton flopping around right below my belly button. Kevin and I have a doppler and it is neat to listen to him move around and it is really strange when I feel his poke along with the move he makes. It won't be long now before I feel EVERY move he makes! I have a doctor's appointment tomorrow.

16 Weeks - Heard the Heartbeat!!

Kevin and I went to our third prenatal visit. It was an amazing experience to hear our baby's heartbeat for the first time. It was a really fast and strong heartbeat. The baby is doing great. I have blood works scheduled for this Saturday and a specialist ultrasound scheduled at Tulane- Lakeside Hosptial in about a week. At that time we should find out the sex of the baby!!! On September 6th, we see my doctor again for my monthly visit.

Pregnancy Aches and Pains

Yesterday I either had the worse pregnancy day of nausea or I had a bug. I feel that it was a 24-hr bug. I had stomach cramps and couldn't keep anything down all day. Today, I am feeling alot better. I came prepared to work just in case. I have peppermint tea, dried crackers and Emetrol. Of course, I feel fine but that doesn't speak of how I am going to feel later today. Last Friday I sneezed and hurt a muscle in my back around my shoulder blade. It was very painful that day and night, but Saturday the pain went away as fast as it came. Also when I sneeze or cough, I hurt my round ligaments in my abdomen area. I heard that when you stand up, cough, sneeze, etc., this could be painful and now I am experience that as well.About a week after my pink eye episode, I had knee problems for about a week. My knee has been fine since then, but I am hoping that I don't have problems with it later on in the pregnancy. Oh, the joys of pregnancy. I am not complaining though. Because I know it will all be worth it in the end. :)

Disney Nursery Theme

For the baby's nursery, we decided that the theme will be the classic Disney. We are going with the old gang, Mickey Mouse, Minney Mouse, Goofy, etc. We will have to clean out the baby's room and start planning.

11 Weeks Prenatal Visit

Today was our second prenatal visit. The good news is that my doctor is moving to a new location in Lakeview practically right down my street in about one week :) the bad news is that she is now stuck at Baptist Hospital and the ultrasound machines are very old there so for this appointment I do not have a picture to post after all :( But we saw the baby with the machine they had and I have to say, it was the most amazing experience. The baby was throwing his arms around and kicking. Then he stopped and curled up for about 15 seconds and then reached up and threw his legs out to stretch. It was AWESOME to see him do that. Kevin was amazed as well for he figured that at this point of our pregnancy the baby didn't move much. My doctor said that she now wants to see me once a month since everything is going great. So my next doctors appointment is August 9th. And she promised me that this appointment I will have a good ultrasound picture. I am holding her to this!!

11 Weeks Today

Today I make 11 weeks. Time seem to be flying. I originally had a doctor's appointment for tomorrow, but they called and rescheduled for this Thursday at 9:00 a.m. Kevin said that this was good news because that would mean that the baby would be just a little more developed. I am hoping for a great ultrasound picture to post. Since I hit 9 weeks I have been having bad nausea. For the last two days I actually threw up instead of gagged. For most people, about this time is when nausea starts to taper off, but not for me. I have been telling everyone that I bet this baby won't want to come out when the due date arrives. Everything comes late for me, so I wouldn't be surprised. I also have been having SO many dreams. Not bad dreams, but very good dreams. While in Florida, one of my dreams was that that I had a boy and was breastfeeding him and I even remember how I was feeling in my dream as I was feeding him. It was an awesome feeling.

Pensacola Trip

It is hard to believe that I am almost 11 weeks pregnant. This trip is very nice, except when the kids pop popcorn. The smell makes me so nauseous! And eating late is really hard on me. And not being able to drink is hard. :) Oh, well it is worth it! I think for my next pregnancy I will plan around the family trip to Florida.

Uh, Oh.... Pink Eye

I had a horrible weekend dealing with pink eye that I picked up from my OBGYN's office on Friday's visit. The pink eye was pretty bad Saturday and I was one miserable person. I was worried about having pink eye and being pregnant. I didn't know what affect this virus could have on the baby. Of course, my OBGYN's office was closed so I had to call the emergency line which turned out to be a waste of time. The on-call doctor at East Jefferson Hospital was absolutely no help and rude and had the attitude that I was bothering her on her Saturday. I had to make the decision myself of whether to take the over the counter medication that my primary doctor told me to use. It turned out that this medication was safe after speaking with my OBGYN's office on Monday morning and complaining that the on-call doctor sucked. Anyway, the good news is that the virus does not have an affect on the baby and I am doing alot better today.

8 Weeks - First Prenatal Visit

Today Kevin and I had our first prenatal visit. Happy to say that everything looked great. The baby was the right size for 8 weeks 3 days (1.89 cm) and was very active. We did not get a good ultrasound picture. There was a shadow from one of my organs that was bouncing off of the baby. So I have a picture of a blob this time. But comparing to other ultrasounds pics on the internet, I can make out the baby. The doctor has me going back to see her again on July 10th. She told me that this visit I should have a better picture of the baby. I can't wait for my next visit!!!!So far, everything is going great with my pregnancy. I am having nausea off and on at times, but not too bad. I am still feeling tired, but that has also been better. I now manage to wait to 10:00 p.m. to fall asleep instead of 8:30-9:00.
