French Quarter Fest
French Quarter Fest is one of my favorite festivals. Something about having a festival in the city makes me happy especially when the weather is beautiful! We met up with Dawn and Maddie for the first half of the day (Maddie was not in the mood for pictures, so that is why I have none of her). The second half of the day we met up with Erin and her family and hung out till the end for the fireworks. Awesome day! Next is Greek Fest!! Another favorite!
Someone was pretty worn out in the end! I say we had a pretty good day!

Emma's French Quarter Fest Dress
I am really becoming a fan of sewing for Emma. I tried sewing once before when Peyton was a baby, but I soon became bored (sorry Peyton). Boy's clothes patterns just wasn't cute to me. But I love baby girl dresses, so that really got me on the roll.
I remember my dress that my Mom made for me when I was a girl. I was so fond of that yellow dress. I remember wanting to wear it all the time! I wish my Mom kept that dress. Taking a picture of Emma in it one day would have been nice, but since that can not happen, I want to make Emma some dresses of her own. So now we are starting off with pillowcase dresses. Next I want to make Maxi styled dresses like the dress I once had as a child. So tonight I finished up this little dress so that Emma can wear for tomorrow's festivities. So here's her dress.....
and here's my dress from way back when! I want to make something similar (but modern) for Emma one day.

Kevin's Birthday Picnic
Like last year, we had a picnic next to the lake for Kevin's birthday. I love going by the lake this time of the year! The weather is beautiful which makes it perfect for a BBQ. So we headed out there around 3:00 p.m. which made finding a spot with a picnic table kind of challenging. Finding a spot with a shelter was going to be impossible I knew, but to not find a table did not cross my mind. So we went all the way down the lake and found a spot where the levee curved in really close to the lake. And there was a small playground which made the spot perfect. I could see why barely no one went there since you had to climb the levee with everything to get to the picnic table. But it was worth it since we had the lake, levee and playground so close to each other. So other than the climb to and from the car and that it was a little messy with litter from people who do not know how to clean up after themselves, the spot was perfect and I want to go back there for our next BBQ. Peyton even met a little friend and played with him practically the whole time. I swear, that kid absolutely has no problems making friends. I hope he keeps that! We had a great evening with our little family!
