Andouille Festival

Today we headed to LaPlace for the Andouille Festival with Mimi and Pawpaw.  This festival is okay.  Not on my list of favorites but we did enjoy being out and about with the family.  I think Kevin and I decided that festivals that includes "rides and games" are not really our favorites.    Festivals that centers food and music as the main entertainment are the festivals that Kevin and I enjoy the most.  Even though I have a feeling that the festivals with the "rides & games" are the ONLY ones that Peyton will want to go to when he is a little older.   But what I really liked about this festival was the petting zoo.  They actually had a petting zoo full of goats, kangaroos, ponys, deers and sheeps.  Peyton enjoyed the heck out of that!  He loves feeding Zack so I just knew he would get a kick out of this part of the festival.  Rides....well he wouldn't look that way, but the animals and running the park he had a ball with.  :)   My boy!

Harrison Avenue Marketplace

Kevin had off of work today, which was really, really nice.  I can't remember the last time he had a three day weekend.  Actually, he has Monday off too.  I don't know what I am going to do with myself!  :)  After our little  trip to the pumpkin patch today, we all decided to take an afternoon nap (so nice) then head over to the Harrison Avenue Marketplace.  This event happens the first Wednesday of each month.  But since it rained this past Wednesday, they changed it to tonight.  Which is good because the weather today was absolutely perfect.  Since Harrison Street is right down our street, we decided to take a nice afternoon stroll over there to enjoy some good food and some live music.  Kevin and I were a little disappointed that one of our favorite restaurants, Drago's wasn't out there tonight and we missed out on some grilled oysters..... but we still had some delicious foods.    I even picked up a cool new Saints shirt for Peyton and I for this coming Saints game.    We had a full day!  :)

Picka Pumpkin Time

Today Kevin, Peyton and I went to St. Martin's Episcopal Church to pick out our Halloween pumpkins.  We started this hopefully ongoing tradition of picking our "family" pumpkins.  A daddy, mommy and baby pumpkin to carve and put out on our front porch.   Last year my pumpkin family came out so nice. I was proud!  I can't wait to see how they turn out this year.  The weather was beautiful today being cool and sunny.  Peyton had a great time running  through the pumpkin patches and picking up the pumpkins.  We had to constantly keep him from throwing the pumpkins around like balls!   And it was hilarious that Peyton kept calling the pumpkins "apples"!   :)  I LOVE this time of the year!  Now it is time for me to carve our little family pumpkins and see if I can manage to cook something out of the pumpkins insides.  I wanted to try last year, but didn't have the nerve.  I will see what I can do this year.......maybe!  HA!

Andrew and Noah's Birthday Party

Today we celebrate Andrew and Noah's second birthday at Chucky E. Cheese's.  Peyton loved the pizza "bee ba" as he calls it and the birthday cupcakes.  It took Peyton a little while (not surprising)  :) but he really enjoyed playing with the balls, pushing all the buttons on the games, and looking and touching at all the wheels (wee wees).  He wouldn't go on any of the rides....but that's okay!  Thanks Andrew and Noah for a wonderful birthday morning!!

Game Face

Today we headed to Coconut Beach for a Lockheed Volleyball Tournament.  To Kevin's disappointment, his team did not make it far in the playoffs......and I had to remind him (several times) that it is just a game.  I think he wanted a prize!  :)  Men and their sports!  HA!   Afterwards we played with Peyton tossing one of the extra volleyballs around in the sand and I saw something familiar with Peyton......Daddy's game face.  Boy we sure do have a future (serious) volleyball player coming to Coconut Beach in some years to come.

Weekend Recap

This weekend was filled with football games and a birthday party.  Auburn University, to my husband's excitement, won and the Saints won their third game making them 3-0.  Yeah!!  Go SAINTS!!  We are hoping that both our teams keep doing great!

Sunday was Peyton's little friend, Isabelle's 2nd birthday.  Isabelle's party was held at this relatively new place called Bounce Spectrum.  I personally love the place, but Peyton has a different opinion about it.  I took him once before and he didn't like it then, but I thought that it may of had to do with the fact that he had a  doctor's appointment the day before and he was still getting over that traumatic experience. I don't understand what Peyton's big deal about this place is.  Especially since he loves bouncing all over our bed and sofa.  You would think he would absolutely love this place!!  I even asked Kevin to come along thinking that maybe there was a chance that he would make it more fun for Peyton.  Of course, no go.   Oh well, maybe I will try again in a couple of months.

Petyon acting silly during the game!

Daddy trying to convince Peyton how fun Bounce Sprectrum is!!

Peyton seems to disagree.

Down Memory Lane 3 - Who does he really look like?

Ever since Peyton hit, oh maybe like 10 months old, ALL I hear is how much Peyton looks like his daddy.  I mean everyone say it!  And I am sorry...I just don't see it!  Don't get me wrong, I love that people think Peyton looks like Kevin but I like to think he inherited some of his mom's good looks other than the color of my eyes!  :)  Today I pulled out a picture of Kevin when he was 20 months old and a picture of me when I was the same age.  And again...with my son being  "spitting image of Kevin"....I just don't see it.  I mean, I don't look at my husband's baby picture and say "oh my God, there's my son".  But then again I don't say that when I look at my baby picture either! Huh, maybe it is just plain ol' denial on my part.  HA!

It's a Duck's World

This morning I had to take a break from making all kinds of phone calls, so Peyton and I decided to head over to City Park to feed the ducks. It was pretty early, maybe around 9:30 a.m. When we got to the playground, it was totally empty except for one parent and her daughter. So I thought we pretty much had the place to ourselves! WRONG!! Everyone must of had the same idea as us because in a matter of minutes, the playground was full of children! :) The weather felt so nice today, I don't think anyone could imagine staying inside when they don't have to.

So Peyton and I headed over to the ducks and boy, they are really hungry at that time of the morning. They came right up to our feet looking up quacking for food. Peyton was so excited that the ducks were so close. I was a little nervous at first wondering if they were going to pluck my feet!! :) But they didn't. They were actually kind of ......sweet! My heart went out to this one little white duckie (second picture down) that has some sort of bill disease. He can't pick up off of the ground and his feathers are not as nicely groomed as the other white ducks. But he kept standing right at my feet asking for bread. Then I figured out that what he wanted was for me to throw him small pieces. He would actually catch the bread with his tongue. Pieces that fell to the ground he left because he couldn't pick it up due to his deformed bill. So sad. I made sure he was feed really good though. I hope he is making it okay out there in duckie world!
